Newhaven is a small busy port town at the mouth of the River Ouse and surrounded by the South Downs. It has an active fishing fleet and marina with boats visiting from across Europe. Conveniently situated between Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne and with easy year round ferry access to France, Newhaven has attractions for all the family; whether its exploring Paradise Park or the Fort, or just enjoying the beautiful coastal and Downland scenery. Newhaven Town Council was formed in 1974 when local government was reorganised. It provides a number of facilities for local residents, including social centres and play areas and is responsible for Newhaven Cemetery. The Town Council offices in Fort Road are open Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 4.30pm and Friday 9.30am to 4.00pm.
