David Allam, and his wife Karen, are very generously opening their spectacular garden for the charity Lewes District Churches HOMELINK.
Come and enjoy a 4 acre downland chalk countryside garden, with flint walled ‘rooms’, beautiful herbaceous borders, a vegetable garden, a pond and quiet area, and an enchanting woodland walk. The private house is built of knapped flint and is reputed to have been used as Napoleonic War Barracks.
The Lewes Ukelele Band and the Seaford Handbell Ringers will be entertaining us at different times during the afternoon and there will be a mystery trail for children, a Bring and Buy Book Sale of Novels, and tea and delicious cakes of course!
HOMELINK can help prevent homelessness by helping local people of any faith or none into housing by offering an interest free loan for part or all of the finance needed to access private rented accommodation. On average this amounts to £1600 per tenancy (to cover the damage deposit and/or the first month’s rent) – often an impossible amount for people to raise. HOMELINK can also help mentored prisoners about to be released by making a small grant to cover a short stay in B&B so that they have the opportunity to start a new life.
Entry £5 per person – accompanied children free. Some disabled access from large car park.
