Best of Newhaven 2019 photographic competition results

The prizes for the Best of Newhaven Photographic Competition were awarded on Tuesday evening by the Mayor, Councillor Graham Amy at Meeching Hall.

The Mayor presents prizes to the winner and runners up in the Children Under 12 category

This is the 3rd year the town council has run this competition and this year’s was more popular than ever. 51 people entered and sent in a total of 162 photos between them. It was particularly good to see so many children entering this year. There were 10 categories and people could enter any or all of the categories, but could only submit one photo for each category. The standard of entries was very high, and the panel carrying out the judging found choosing the winners a difficult task. The photos were given to the panel to judge anonymously – they did not know who had taken any of the photos until the judging had finished.

The Judges Panel found it so difficult to decide on an overall winner for the competition that they chose two joint winners – this is one, a photo by Kevin Cooper

This is the other joint overall winner, a photo by Martin Sinnock
