Lewes District Council Local Plans Part 1 and Part 2

Lewes District Council’s Core Strategy (Local Plan Part 1)

The Core Strategy was adopted by Lewes District Council on 11 May 2016 and by the South Downs National Park Authority on 23 June 2016.  It now forms part of the development plan for the district.  More information and the adopted Core Strategy documents can be found on the Lewes District Council website here.

Lewes District Council’s Local Plan Part 2

The Local Plan Part 2 allocates land for housing, including Gypsy and traveller pitches, and employment. It also sets out detailed planning policies to guide development and change in the period to 2030 for the whole of the Lewes District. A number of policies in this Plan relate to sites and activities in Newhaven.

The Local Plan Part 2 was adopted on 24 February 2020 and now forms part of the development plan for that part of Lewes district outside of the South Downs National Park.
