Town Clerk and 'Proper Officer' - Ken Dry

  • Overall management of the running of the town council’s business.
  • Guides the town council on policy, legal and procedural issues.
  • Management of town council staff and external contractors
  • Responsible for agendas and minutes for meetings of the Council and its committees and for the preparation of reports
  • Responsible for all press, marketing and publicity matters

Working Hours, 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday (principally)

Executive Officer - Stephen Honey

  • The Executive Officer will be an Officer of the Council and in the absence of the Town Clerk (Proper Officer) is under a statutory duty to carry out all the functions, and to serve or issue all the notifications required by law of the local authority’s Proper Officer.
  • The purpose of the Executive Officer is
  • To assist, support and deputise for the Town Clerk in all aspects of the day to day management and operation of council services and resources as delegated by the Town Clerk, and
  • Additionally support the Town Clerk and the Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) in the careful application and administration of its finances, as per the Council’s Financial Regulations and Standing Orders.

Responsible Finance Officer - Alison Campbell

  • Designated officer responsible for Section 151 of the Local Government Act 1972 (financial management)
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Council complies with current financial legislation
  • Responsible for the preparation of the Budget and the Precept request
  • Keeps the Council’s accounts and prepares records for audit and VAT purposes

Working Hours, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 2.30pm

Administration & Finance Officer - Sarah Edwards

  • Deals with day to day enquiries
  • Bookings for the Town Council’s social centres
  • Cemetery administration
  • Allotment administration
  • General administration and projects

Communications and Events Officer - Carrie Higgs

  • Maintains website & social media
  • Produces 'Newhaven Matters'
  • Organises Town Council community events
  • Supports Town Mayor
  • General administration and projects
  • Deals with day to day enquiries

Working Hours, Monday to Friday 08:30am - 3:00pm

Asst Caretaker & Amenities Officer - Trevor Tucker

  • To maintain the Town Council’s offices and social centres to a high standard of cleanliness and repair
  • To ensure the Town Council’s outdoor spaces are maintained to a high standard
  • To ensure that the Town Council’s noticeboards are kept up to date

Working Hours, 37 hours a week (principally Monday to Friday)
