About Newhaven and the Town Council
Newhaven is a lively port town at the mouth of the River Ouse, surrounded by the beautiful South Downs. With a bustling fishing fleet, friendly marina welcoming boats from across Europe, and easy ferry links to France, it’s perfectly placed between Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne.
There’s plenty to enjoy—explore the history of Newhaven Fort, discover BN9 art space, or simply take in the stunning coastal and Downland scenery.
Newhaven Town Council, formed in 1974, supports the community by providing local facilities such as social centres, play areas, and the upkeep of Newhaven Cemetery.
