Social Centres For Hire
The Town Council looks after four social centres in the town.

Kitchen Facilities: At all Town Council social centres, anyone wishing to make tea or use the kitchen facilities must bring their own kettle, saucepans, crockery, cutlery, and other essentials.
Meeching Hall, Fort Road, Newhaven BN9 9QQ
Meeching Hall is a charming former Masonic hall located close to the town centre on Fort Road. The main hall on the ground floor can accommodate up to 110 people and is equipped with folding tables and stacking chairs. It also features a stage with a dressing room behind it, plus a piano. Other facilities include : Separate downstairs kitchen complete with a cooker, sink and worktops.
Seated capacity: 75
Upstairs, there are two smaller rooms, one of which includes a sink and worktop, and each can hold up to 30 people.
The building offers wheelchair access to the ground floor via a side ramp, and one of the toilets in the ladies’ facilities has been adapted for disabled use.

Lewes Road Hut, Robinson Road, Newhaven BN9 9RW
The Lewes Road Hut is a large wooden building located within the Lewes Road Recreation Ground. It’s especially suitable for children’s groups and youth activities. The hut is licensed for up to 60 people and comes with square tables and chairs to seat everyone. Facilities also include: Fully working kitchen space with oven and preparation area.

Eastside Social Centre, Norton Terrace, Newhaven BN9 0BT
The Eastside Social Centre is an older-style community hall built by and for Eastside residents. It is currently used every weekday until 6pm by the Nippers Playscheme, so it is not generally available for casual daytime bookings. However, private evening and weekend bookings from Eastside residents only are welcome.
The hall is licensed for up to 75 people, but please note that it is not equipped with tables or chairs.
Denton & Mount Pleasant Social Centre, Denton Road, Newhaven BN9 0PX
The Denton and Mount Pleasant Social Centre is a modern, purpose built community centre, situated within the recreation ground in Denton Road.
The building is licensed to take up to 100 people and is fully equipped with square tables and chairs to seat this capacity.
Facilities also include : separate kitchen area with a cooker and sink.
