NOTICE TO MARINERS No. 15 – 2025
Head Of The Ouse – 27th September 2025 – Newhaven Harbour
Mariners are advised that the Head Of The Ouse gig regatta will be taking place on the 27th July 2025. Two seven-mile river races for up to 25 fixed-seat rowing boats. The first race, setting off from Newhaven at 13:15 is an open event for men’s and mixed crews and is timed for the last of the flood tide. The second, setting off from Lewes at 15:00, is for women’s crews and is timed to start as the tide turns. All racing is due to be completed by 1630.
Accompanying the gigs will be two ribs to facilitate the movement of the Gigs from the marina to the start and back once racing has been completed. There is a programme with further details available at: http://tinyurl.com/HOTO25
During the day there will be increased activity on the river, Masters and others in charge of craft are warned to navigate with caution and pay strict attention to the traffic signals, information and directions issued to them by Newhaven Port Control.
