NOTICE TO MARINERS No. 18 – 2025

Dredging Campaign Newhaven Marina – October/November 2025

Mariners are advised that Jenkins Marine Ltd will be carrying out dredging
operations within Newhaven Marina. Work is due to commence on the 5th
October. All work is subject to weather conditions and should be completed by
mid November.
The dredging is being carried out by the Backhoe dredger ‘Doreen Doward’
which will be permanently positioned within the confines of the Marina
throughout the operation. The vessel is restricted in her ability to manoeuvre
and all vessels must keep clear of her. The dredger will be supported by
workboat ‘Beaver 3’
The vessel is exhibiting lights and shapes in accordance with the International
Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea and is maintaining a listening
watch on VHF channel 12.
Self-propelled split hopper barge ‘Nab’ or ‘Needles’ will be transporting the
spoil material from the Marina to the disposal ground. The works involve
frequent passages from the Harbour to the Disposal Ground, situated
approximately 1 mile south of Newhaven Breakwater Lighthouse, as indicated
on nautical charts. These vessels are maintaining a listening watch on VHF
channel 12.
Masters and others in charge of craft are warned to navigate with caution and
pay strict attention to information and directions issued to them by Newhaven
